Our Services
Corneal transplant

Corneal transplant (keratoplasty) restores vision in patients with advanced keratoconus, corneal scars, dystrophies or severe corneal edema.
Before surgery, we carry out a thorough evaluation to determine your overall eye health and suitability for a transplant. Pre-operative protocols include vision tests, corneal topography, pachymetry and an assessment of general ocular health.
During surgery, the damaged cornea is removed and replaced with donor tissue. Depending on the technique, the graft can be full-thickness (penetrating keratoplasty) or partial-thickness (lamellar keratoplasty). The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia.
Post-operative care is essential for a successful recovery: medication to prevent infection and control inflammation, regular follow-up visits and careful protection of the eye. A corneal transplant is a highly specialized procedure with risks and possible complications that your doctor will discuss with you.
